Why the report subscription is required

To find errors, the software needs your actual current report from each bureau, not a summary. And to show you what a dispute changed, it needs a fresh report the next month to compare. SmartCredit® supplies both, for all three bureaus, in a format the scan can read. The free annual reports from AnnualCreditReport.com are useful, but they can't be imported automatically and won't refresh monthly to track your results.

If you already pay for SmartCredit, connect it and use the software free. If you use a different monitoring service, you'd need a SmartCredit account for the import to work.

Compared with hiring a credit repair company

Credit Repair AutomateTypical credit repair company

Monthly fee$0 (software) + $29.95 (your reports)$79 to $149, plus you often still pay for monitoring

ContractNoneMonth to month, but cancellation friction is common
Cost over 6 monthsAbout $180About $600 to $1,100

Company prices are typical published ranges for well-known providers as of 2026 and change often. The point isn't that companies are bad. It's that the work they do is something the law lets you do yourself, and the software makes it about as easy.

How we make money

Plainly: SmartCredit pays us a referral commission when you subscribe through the app. That's the whole business model. It's why the software can be free, and it means our interests line up with yours. You only stay subscribed if the tool keeps being useful.

Frequently asked questions

Why isn't the software itself paid?

Because we earn a referral commission when you subscribe to SmartCredit through the app. That covers our costs, so we don't need to charge you, and it keeps us outside the rules that apply to companies that charge for credit repair.

Is there a contract?

No. SmartCredit is month to month. Cancel from your SmartCredit account whenever you like.

What does print-to-mail cost?

A few dollars per letter, shown before you confirm. It covers printing, envelope, postage and tracking. Mailing yourself is always an option.

Do I pay anything if I already have SmartCredit?

No. Connect your existing account and use the software at no cost.

What happens if I cancel SmartCredit?

Your Credit Repair Automate account stays open and you keep your letters and history. The software just can't import fresh reports until you reconnect a report source.
